Detroit Works Project Long Term Planning

The Detroit Works Project was introduced in 2010 as a process to create a shared, achievable vision for the future of Detroit that could serve as a guide for improving the physical, social and economic landscape of our city.

In July 2011 Mayor Dave Bing separated the Detroit Works Project into two tracks, Short Term Actions and Long Term Planning. City officials spearhead the Short Term Actions, which is work being done to realign some city services and leverage available resources to make improvements in neighborhoods based on their market conditions.

The Long Term Planning for the project is being led by the DCDC, with support from Michigan Community Resources. A Steering Committee oversees the work of the technical and civic engagement teams that are charged with developing meaningful and inclusive engagement strategies to gather the expertise of the community and combine it with the technical analysis; and then produce a strategic framework plan for our future.
